since the site has basically been ripped apart due to the necessary migration to a new framework I thought I will keep you updated here in the forums about the progress of putting back the old functionality and enhacing it.
Added a basic functions for users to become friends. You can add any other user to your friends list. The user will be notified of the request and can then accept or deny it. If the request is accepted, the two users are going to be listes as friends on the site. The friends list can be managed via a special tab in your user account (accept and deny requests, remove friends etc.):
Outlook: This is just an initial step which I intend to enhance to a a full clan (and other special groups) management feature in the near future (clans can organize and manege themselves). Not sure if there are still clans out there at all. But at least one cannot say we haven't tried...
Additional user info
All users can now add their birthday and location to their profile. For privacy reasons the form won't collect the street address - just the country and the city. This info alongside a country flag will be visible on the profile page and other parts of the site as can be seen on the screen shot below.
All user locations can be found on our new Mastersleague Users World Map
Photo Gallery rebuilt
The good old Mastersleague Photo Gallery has been rebuilt. Browse, comment on and rate existing user photos and upload new ones!
Recorded Games section sigificantly improved
The recorded games section has been sigificantly improved. You can add all sort of data to the uploaded file which will help to categorize the files and make it easier to filter and find the recs according to the entered data. The downside of this is the additional "work" you will (or can) have when uploading a recorded game. But in the end I think it will be worth it. Please check out the new upload form and let me know if there is any other info for recs that need to be added there. I have started uploading all the old and dusty recs from the past MoR Competitions for a start. There are quite a lot so this will take some time.
Recorded Games Statistics added
Two of the upsides of the additional info you can enter for a rec are the cross-referencing of the data and of course the stats you can generate with it (who doesn't like stats? ). I have added an initial version of the "Mastersleague's Recs Statistics" to give you an impression. The stats are being updated on the fly so you always see the live status of the recs.
(Re-) Added the downloads section
Today I have re-added the Downloads Section of the old Mastersleague site. Not much new here except the new version of the RoB-Taunt-Pack which can be installed with the EE version of Rise of Nations: T&P which you can obtain on steam. I hope to be able to allow user-submissions in the near future. You can find the New (old) downloads here.
Added new recorded games section
One of the main aspects of the site was uploading recorded games and discussing them. The options have now been greatly enhanced while keeping the original purpose. Still needs a lot of fine-tuning and the addition of planned features. Only the basic foundation has been set so far. I hope to have some more detailled info soon (the first recs are actually old ones which I have just re-uploaded for demonstration purposes).
Added Social login
New users can now simply register and login to the Mastersleague site via various social networ sites such as Facebook, Twitter and especially with their steam account (which most RoN online players are supposed to have nowadays). This means that visitors can create an account with one click and post right away instead of having to go through the whole registration process. I hope this works as expected.
One of the most requested features used to be the possibility for the users to change their user name (after clan changes etc.) Up to now only an admin could do it. Now you can freely choose a nickname in your account setting which will the displayd in every piece of content you create on the site. It won't affect your login and user name. Just the display on the site. I hope there will be no abuse of this function.
